Childhood nutrition Workshops

The Power of Food for Childhood Nutrition

At Golden Health Pharmacy our childhood nutrition workshops expose children to the great taste and health benefits of eating a plant-based diet through kid-friendly recipes approved by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s (the Physicians Committee) staff of dietitians. The curriculum aims to empower children with the knowledge and skills they need to establish healthful habits to carry them well into adulthood with a fun and tasty experience.

We emphasize the importance of eating a low-fat, high-fiber diet. It is not intended to cause immediate dietary changes among the children, but rather to expose children to new foods that encourage and inspire healthful eating for long-term disease prevention. The classes will focus on the positive, fun, and inspiration of food. We will also demonstrate how to eat foods which fall within the four food groups.

The intended audience for this workshop series is for a target audience of children 9 to 12 years old, in grades 4 through 6. The workshop series can be used with slightly younger children, but does not work well with children older than 12.

As a Food For Life certified center we host Childhood Nutrition Education Program which entails 4 workshops/classes which provide in-depth review of plant-based nutrition for healthy living.

Class 1 is free. Classes 2 through 4 is $40 per person. Please RSVP online on our Meet Up page; there you will find additional information regarding payment.
