Alzheimer's Disease: What's Insulin Got to Do With It?

Learn more about the free workshop and reserve your seat at https://www.meetup.com/Golden-Health/events/239644557/.

Alzheimer's disease is frightening. Other than generally affecting older people, there seems to be little rhyme or reason to it. It is an "equal opportunity illness," striking people of all ethnicities, nationalities, genders, and body sizes.  It is especially fearsome because there are currently no effective treatments and no blockbuster drugs to slow, stop, or reverse the condition. There are many unanswered questions about how and why memory loss and cognitive impairment occur, but that doesn't mean we are completely without actionable information right now.

Join us as nutritionist Amy Berger, author of the book, The Alzheimer's Antidote, discusses exciting new developments in dementia research that describe Alzheimer's disease as "type 3 diabetes" or "diabetes of the brain." Amy will describe what's going wrong in the Alzheimer's brain and why, and then discuss a nutritional therapy and targeted supplements to support brain health and cognitive function.

Bio: Amy Berger, MS, CNS, NTP, is a USAF veteran, Certified Nutrition Specialist and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who specializes in using low-carbohydrate nutrition to help people reclaim their vitality through eating delicious foods, and showing them that getting and staying well doesn't require starvation, deprivation, or living at the gym. Her motto is, “Real people need real food!”

Free Qigong

Qigong is a type of spiritual practice intended to "align" body, breath, and mind for health, meditation, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance qi (chi) or what has been translated as "life energy".

Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and calm meditative state of mind.

Our class will be taught by a certified Qigong instructor, Josee Arel

*Like many forms of exercise, Qigong and Tai-Chi require physical exertion that may be strenuous at times and may cause physical injury. It is your responsibility to consult with your physician to determine if you have any health condition that may be exacerbated by the exercise classes. Golden Health Pharmacy, Inc. is not responsible for any injuries that may be incurred during the program.

Natural Chronic Pain Relief Part Two

Conventional medicine so often relies heavily on pain medication to reduce or block pain but there are some natural approaches you can take to address pain.

There are many unhealthy stressors that create inflammation and pain that affect the body's ability to heal itself. People can have exposure to many varied stressors, which leaves them especially vulnerable to experiencing chronic pain, even in cases involving relatively minor physical injuries. Stressors may include: emotional stress, unhealthy diet, dental disease, dehydration, digestion issues, structural imbalances, electromagnetic radiation, mold or chemicals in the home or office, emotional trauma, air pollution or pet dander.

There are a range of strategies to support the immune system, raise alkalinity in the body and enhance cellular performance, which help support the healing process and may reduce inflammation and pain.

Hear Julianne O'Dwyer share cutting edge techniques, superfoods and supplements that calm inflammation and speed up healing at the cellular level. For over 20 years, she had to learn for herself how to overcome chronic pain due to sports injuries, car accidents, mercury amalgam toxicity, Lyme disease, hormone & thyroid imbalances, candida and mold toxicity.

Designing a Diet for Maximum Weight Control

This is not a “diet” that asks you to walk around hungry or feel deprived. How can you lose weight, if needed, without skipping meals or limiting your portions? In a word, it’s all about FIBER. Plant-foods have it, animal foods do not. Fiber is what makes us feel full, and, as a bonus, it also helps to control blood sugar levels, protects against certain cancers, and, of no small importance, it keeps us “regular.” Learn to comfortably fill up on whole foods and watch the pounds melt away. Enjoy some delicious high-fiber dishes—without any cardboard taste.

This is class 4 of 8 on our diabetes education series. Learn more about additional classes at: http://www.goldenhealthpharmacy.com/diabetes-workshops

This class is $40 per person, or $250 for full package of eight classes. Payment will be collected at the start of each event. We accept debit, credit card or cash.
